Garage Spring Repair
At Precision Garage Door of Houston, we offer a premium selection of high-quality products, including garage door springs. The springs play a critical role in how your garage door operates, allowing it to open and close with ease. If the wrong springs are used or if they’re damaged, your garage door could have trouble opening and closing.
Different types of garage doors require different spring sizes to ensure that the door is properly balanced. If the springs are the wrong size or if they’re not installed correctly, the door could malfunction and cause problems for the entire garage door system. At Precision Garage Door of Houston, we take great care in making sure that the right springs are installed properly on your garage door.
One reason your garage door might be equipped with the wrong springs is because there are simply so many types of garage doors available and each one requires a specific spring size to handle the weight of the door properly. At Precision Garage Door of Houston, our service trucks are loaded with springs of various sizes so we can repair your garage door system right away.
Two Types of Garage Door Springs
Your garage door system should be equipped with two types of springs: torsion and extension. Both of these springs come in various sizes designed to handle specific garage door weights.
Torsion springs are installed directly above the garage door opening to provide smooth operation. This spring offers more control over the opening and closing of the door.
Extension springs run parallel to the track to help to raise and lower the door. The springs are extended when the door is down and contracted when the door is up, keeping the door firmly in place.
Because your garage door is usually in the down position, with the extension springs fully extended, they tend to stretch out over time. When this happens, the springs lose their tightly coiled shape and become less effective. For that reason, extension springs should be replaced regularly.
About Our Springs
At Precision Garage Door of Houston, we use the highest-quality springs when repairing your garage door to ensure that it performs the way it was designed. Our springs are made from high-grade steel and coated in a weather-resistant powder that helps to prevent corrosion and reduce friction.
This unique design allows our garage door springs to last up to five times longer than springs you might find at other garage door companies. Where normal springs typically last for anywhere between 5,000 to 10,000 cycles—one cycle being a full opening and closing of the garage door—our springs are tested to last between 25,000 to 50,000 cycles. So you won’t need to replace them as often.
The safety of you and your family is important to us, which is why no garage door service is complete without a thorough safety inspection. Precision Garage Door of Houston conducts a full inspection before and after servicing your garage door to make sure that your garage door system meets our strict safety standards and functions properly to prevent potential injuries, accidents, or damages.
We’re confident in our products and stand behind the work we do. That’s why we offer a limited lifetime warranty with our maintenance plan. It’s important for us at Precision Garage Door of Houston to make sure that the repair process is as easy as possible for you, so if there’s ever an issue with one of our springs, we’ll replace it at no cost.
